Despite longstanding recognition of the benefits of trade and the importance of improving competitiveness, Africa is performing beneath its potential in global and regional agricultural markets.

Following on from the first Africa Agriculture Trade Monitor (AATM) released in 2018, the 2019 report is the second flagship document to assess the emerging and long-term trends and drivers behind Africa’s regional and global trade in agricultural products. 

Gender-sensitive policy and programming have an integral role to play in fostering inclusive agricultural growth to meet the commitments of African countries to the Malabo Declaration goals. The 2019 Annual Trends and Outlook Report from ReSAKSS applies a gender lens to key issues that must be addressed to fully achieve these goals.
