The 6th CAADP Partnership Platform (PP) will take place next week in Johannesburg, South Africa from April 19-23, 2010. The CAADP PPs are held every six months in order to review progress and country-level experiences in implementation of the framework.

The Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) held its annual policy conference on March 29, 2010 followed by its 2010 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 30-31in Muldersdrift, Gauteng South Africa.

On February 22, 2010, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs convened a symposium in Washington, D.C. to review progress on the US Administration’s global food security strategy and provide critical thinking on how best to overcome potential obstacles to success.

The Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development (GCARD) 2010 will take place in Montpellier, France from 28-31 March 2010. 

The conference aims to provide a global action plan and strategy for improving agricultural research in order to make maximum impact on development, especially of the poor.

The Partnership to Cut Hunger and Poverty in Africa (“the Partnership”) will host a two-day US-Africa Forum on Food Security in Sub-Saharan Africa on February 25-26, 2010, in Washington, DC entitled “Putting Principles into Action”. 

 The forum will explore specific challenges related to the implementation of the US Global Food Security Initiative in sub-Saharan Africa. The objectives of the workshop will be to:

USDA's 2010 Outlook Forum was held Feb. 18-19 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, Va. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack presented the keynote titled “Sustainable Agriculture: The Key to Health & Prosperity.”

Co-hosted by IFAD and the Global Mechanism of the UNCCD, the Platform Annual General Assembly drew over 100 participants from the donor community, international financial institutions, foundations, farmers’ organizations and CSOs for discussions on some of the major agricultural and rural development agendas of the day.

The government of Togo hosted a CAADP post-compact meeting on February 4, 2010 in Lomé.

NEPAD will host a workshop from March 1 to 4, 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa to review and validate the ReSAKSS M&E framework for CAADP implementation.

The meeting will provide a forum for discussion by key stakeholders to review similar M&E efforts in an effort to create a harmonized strategy. Participants will include representatives from ReSAKSS, the African Union, NEPAD, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), the CAADP Pillar Institutions, farmers organizations, countries and development partner organizations.
