Workshop on ‘Standardized methodology for collection and dissemination of informal trade data: Good practices and the existing gaps'

The CAADP Mutual Accountability Framework (MAF) and Country Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support Systems (SAKSS) will be meeting together in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania for a three day in-depth discussion and analysis.  The focus will be on on strengthening and aligning monitoring capacity and systems in regards to create better data generation, monitoring mechanisms, review and support for policy making initiatives.

This past weekend, July 2-3, a workshop was held on the Theory, Methods and Application of Modeling and Evaluation (M&E) of Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Policies.  The University of Kiel, the Institute of World Economy and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) brought together interdisciplinary scholars working in the field of policy modelling and evaluation at the micro or macro level

After the 2^nd CAADP ReSAKSS Continental Steering Committee Meeting, the stage has been set to move forward.  These minutes discuss the strategy, workplan and M&E of the progress of the CAADP ReSAKSS.  It also includes applauding the efforts to create individual country SAKSS.

Feed the Future E-Consultation

From May 9-27, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) will be coordinating a major on-line consultation, focusing on the research strategy of the US Government’s new Feed the Future (FTF) Initiative. It will be a chance for researchers and other stakeholders to consider and provide input to the US government on FTF’s research priorities, and to discuss how best to support and engage with this important new program.

ReSAKSS coordinator Sam Benin participated in the 7th CAADP PP in Yaounde, Cameroon.  He presented on ReSAKSS's 2010 progress, key ReSAKSS's outputs, and future objectives at the following meetings:

The 7th CAADP Partnership Platform will be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon on March 23-24.  The PP is meeting under the theme “Mutual Accountability in the formulation and implementation of country CAADP investment plans.”  ReSAKSS coordinator Sam Benin will be in attendance and presenting a draft of the 2010 Annual Trends and Outlook Report.

The Partnership To Cut Hunger And Poverty In Africa hosted the third annual US-Africa Forum,  "Getting Down to Business: Scaling Up Agricultural Development in Africa," in Washington, DC on March 1-2, 2011.  The goals of the forum included assessing progress over the past year,  achieving 'more and better' investments in African agriculture, and developing recomendations for action to scale up the impact of the CAADP and Feed the Future initiatives.  To that end, the discussion focused on two themes: partnership and "learning while doing."
