Kenya Signs CAADP Compact

From COMESA: The President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Mwai Kibaki on  24 July 2010, officially launched the Kenya Agricultural Sector Development Strategy and witnessed the signing of the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Program (CAADP). COMESA has been providing technical support to its Member States in view to having them sign and implement national and regional CADDP compacts.

Since its adoption in 2003, the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) has established a reputation as a framework of support for sustainable agricultural development in different countries and regions of Africa. Several African countries have now signed their CAADP compacts with the support of the ReSAKSS network. As we enter the post-CAADP compact implementation phase in many countries, it is important to streamline the areas of intervention of CAADP by making only those incremental and value-added changes to the current services provided by CAADP as are necessary.

ECOWAP/CAADP Business Meeting, June 2010

An ECOWAP/CAADP Process business meeting on the financing of national and regional investment plans was held on June 14-17 in Dakar, Senegal.  The objectives of this meeting included enabling ECOWAS member countries to submit their agricultural investment plans and budget estimates; enabling the ECOWAS Commission to  present the regional agricultural investment plan; discussing these investment plans and developing a strategy for the mobilization of financial resources in advance of the G8/G20 meetings; and developing  common approach among stakeholders to finance member countries' investme

6th CAADP PP Finds Country Progress Must Speed Up and Increase Effectiveness for Poverty and Hunger Reduction

CAADP News: Delegates at the 6th CAADP Partnership Platform (PP) declared that progress in reducing poverty and hunger in African countries has been made, but that much more must be done in order to hasten the pace. In addition, signficant gains have been made in implementing CAADP, with 18 countries signing compacts as of April, 2010. The delegates agreed that the roadmap for the remainder of 2010 should focus on countries which had already signed compacts.
