Representatives from ReSAKSS presented the validated "Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System for the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP)" at the 6th CAADP Partnership Platform (PP) in Johannesburg, South Africa which took place from April 21-23, 2010. The presentation was based on the recently revised M&E Framework document and highlighted the key elements of the system, including which indicators would be monitored, the rationale for the framework, how data would be collected, the roles of key collaborators and partners, and the primary outputs from the data collection effort. The major outputs of the M&E system will include the Comprehensive M&E Report, which was also presented at the 6th CAADP PP, and the Annual Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR). The Comprehensive M&E Report will track continental and regional progress toward the CAADP targets within an outline of seven key areas, including     

• Enabling environment,
• CAADP implementation process,
• Tracking commitments and spending,
• Agricultural growth performance,
• Agricultural trade performance,
• Poverty, hunger and food and nutrition security, and
• Investment-growth-poverty linkages.

The ATOR will also track continental progress toward the CAADP goals and targets, but in a more condensed version than the comprehensive M&E report. For more information, refer to
