World Bank/DFID Public Expenditure Workshop, May 11-12, 2009, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Thu, 06/18/2009

On May 11-12, 2009, ReSAKSS and the Development Strategy and Governance Division (DGSD) of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) participated at the World Bank-hosted Public Expenditure Workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Dr. Shenggen Fan, Director of IFPRI’s Development Strategy and Governance Division, presented a synthesis of agricultural public expenditure reviews which stated that spending for agricultural growth and poverty reduction must be targeted to areas with the highest impacts, namely agricultural research and extension, rural infrastructure and education. In addition, the presentation noted there must be effective monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of agricultural expenditures and greater integration of aid into country strategy development and budget frameworks.

The full presentation is available for download on the ReSAKSS website.
