Sector-level Public Expenditure Reviews (PERs) are a standard instrument for Tanzania’s annual rounds of performance evaluation. They are one of the main basic pieces of information and assessment for the dialogue between the Government and development partners (DPs) who support the country via general budget support (GBS) or sector policy support.

The joint sector review (JSR) assessment exercise was undertaken in Tanzania from March to May 2014 to evaluate progress in Tanzania under CAADP and, in particular, progress on implementation of TAFSIP. This report was produced under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Cooperatives (MAFC). The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) office for Eastern and Central Africa supported national collaborators to undertake the review.

The specific objective is to identify areas for improving the quality and utility of agricultural policy analysis and investment planning and implementation, M&E, and knowledge management at the country level. The studys findings will be useful in designing and establishing the country SAKSS.
