On 4–6 April, Charles Nhemachena and Sibusiso Nhlengethwa of ReSAKSS Southern Africa and Stella Massawe of ReSAKSS East and Central Africa participated in the Resilience Index Measurement and Analysis (RIMA) training organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The University of Ibadan hosted the 2nd Symposium on Climate Change Adaptation In Africa on May 14-15. The symposium was co-organized with Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and the International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP) in Ibadan, Nigeria.
ReSAKSS' 2016 Annual Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR) examines the contribution of CSA to meeting Malabo Declaration goals by taking stock of current knowledge on the eff ects of climate change, reviewing existing evidence of the eff ectiveness of various CSA strategies, and discussing examples of CSA-based practices and tools for developing evidence-based policies and programs. In this brief, we summarize key findings and related policy recommendations.
During the ReSAKSS Annual Conference the African Agriculture Technology Foundation (AATF) organized a talk on the topic: Agricultural Technologies for Combating Climate Change in Africa. The goal of increasing agricultural productivity and enhancing food security in Africa to keep pace with projected population growth is being threatened by the impact of climate change.
At the ReSAKSS Annual Conference 2017 in Mozambique, SNV Netherlands Development Organization and IFPRI/ReSAKSS hosted a panel discussion, drawing from their experiences in evidence-based policy processes and on-the-ground implementation of innovative practices that strengthen climate information, and market systems for pastoralists. The objective was to provide a set of recommendations on suitable climate-smart practices, and policy considerations that can feed into evidence-based policy planning processes as well as investment plans.
