In August 22-23 2013, ReSAKSS-SA hosted its 5th methodology workshop for the preparation of 2013 Annual Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR). Stakeholders and trade policy experts from 15 countries of Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) region participated in the workshop.

Each year the ATOR focuses on a special  topic related to Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme(CAADP). The 2013 edition of the ATOR will focus on International Trade and Vulnerability/Resilience. The emphasis will be on how trade relates to the vulnerability of economies and hence by implications to households incomes and poverty and people's ability to adapt to such vulnerability.  The idea of the workshop therefore was to understand the nature, challenges and opportunities of regional and extra-regional trade in the SADC region and link this to the vulnerability of households at the national level as well as to the region’s ability to withstand shocks arising from trade.

The workshop discussed and reviewed the collected data and to mapped the way forward for the ATOR report writing, especially on the challenges data collectors encountered during the data collection process. Through discussions, the participants also harmonised certain issues  that seemed to confound the data collection process. Read more about the August workshop.
