ReSAKSS-ECA Africa Lead Second Regional Workshop on Strengthening Capacity for Strategic Agricultural Policy and Investment Planning and Implementation in Africa

A training workshop titled “Strengthening Capacity for Strategic Agricultural Policy and Investment Planning and Implementation in Africa” was held in Nairobi on June 25th -26th, 2012. This workshop was co-organized by the Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System for Eastern and Central Africa (ReSAKSS-ECA) and Africa Lead. The objective of this workshop was to strengthen country level capacity for strategic agricultural policy and investment planning and implementation. The workshop focused on concepts for strengthening country knowledge systems, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and agricultural policy analysis.
There were 17 participants attended the workshop. The expected outputs and outcomes of the workshop were 1) Understanding of country SAKSS architecture and its functions. Participants are equipped to help develop country systems for improving the quality and utility of agricultural policy analysis and investment planning and implementation and M&E, and 2) A roadmap for establishing a country SAKSS and strengthening capacity.
The main topics covered included: Strategic analysis, Project management (project preparation, design and appraisal techniques), Monitoring and Evaluation, Communications, knowledge management for agricultural strategies in Africa and Transformational leadership.
