Abstract

ReSAKSS tracks CAADP indicators using an interactive website (www.resakss.org) and a flagship Annual Trends and Outlook Report (ATOR). Each year, the ATOR features a topic of strategic importance to the CAADP agenda. The 2019 ATOR will discuss progress and research evidence on gender equality, a cross-cutting theme in the Malabo Declaration. Applying a gender lens to various issues among rural populations will facilitate women’s social, political, and economic participation in agricultural development and provide additional evidence needed to advance gender equality. Therefore, the 2019 ATOR will take an in-depth look at gender in Africa by examining the intersections between gender and i) context and institutions, ii) natural resource management and vulnerability to climate shocks, iii) assets, and iv) livelihoods. The report will be launched during the 2019 ReSAKSS Annual Conference on 11-13 November in Lomé, Togo.

About ReSAKSS

The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS) supports the successful implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) by providing policy-relevant data; facilitating dialogue among stakeholders; monitoring progress in reviewing goals; and strengthening mutual accountability processes at continental, regional, and national levels. It is facilitated by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA), and leading regional economic communities (RECs). At the regional level, ReSAKSS is supported by three Africa-based CGIAR centers: the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Kenya, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in South Africa, and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Nigeria.
