In an effort to advance activities of the Mozambique SAKSS (Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System), Drs. Greenwell Matchaya and Charles Nhemachena of ReSAKSS-Southern Africa–(SA) travelled to Maputo, Mozambique between 16 and 18 June, 2016. In Maputo, they met with Mr. Carlos Matos, an Economist with the USAID Support Program for Enterprise and Economic Development and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security including Mr. Jeremias Chauque, a Deputy Director in the Ministry.
The African Development Bank organized an Identification and Preparation Workshop on Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) on April 12-14, in Ibadan, Nigeria, in collaboration with CGIAR centers, FARA, Africa Harvest and other organizations.
This essay is part of a special edition being published in partnership with Foreign Affairs, titled “African Farmers in the Digital Age.” This anthology explores the future of African food systems and the role that digital solutions can play in overcoming the isolation of smallholder farmers and speeding up rural development.

The Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System for Southern Africa (ReSAKSS-SA), facilitated by the International Water Management Institute - Southern Africa Office (IWMI-SA), participated in the ReSAKSS 2015 Annual Conference, which was held at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on September 1-3, 2015.
The AGRODEP GAMS Training Toolbox is intended to assist those interested in economic modeling-- including but not limited to general and partial equilibrium models as well as optimization problems-- by teaching them to use the GAMS software, a cornerstone of many modeling efforts.
The International Water Management Institute for Southern Africa (IWMI-SA) through the Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support Systems for Southern Africa (ReSAKSS-SA) in collaboration with the Swaziland Ministry of Agriculture and the Economic Development Commission for Southern Africa (EDC-SA) hosted the first Swaziland Agriculture Joint Sector Review Assessment Validation workshop. The workshop was held at Sibane hotel, Swaziland, on 21-22 May 2015.
The 11th CAADP Partnership Platform (PP) meeting opened with much talk on how to translate the Malabo Declaration into concrete actions, results, and impact on the ground.
